Note | MASTER MARINER'S SUICIDE.
An inquiry was held at the Morgue on Saturday by the coroner (Dr. Cole) concerning the death of Isaac Henry Thurston, formerly a master mariner, which occurred at Glenferrie on September 7, in consequence of a gunshot wound.
Evidence was given that Thurston, who was 69 years of age, had suffered severely from rheumatism and spinal trouble. On Thursday morning he was found dead in his room, and by his side was a rifle which he had evidently fired by means of a string which was attached to one of his toes.
A verdict of suicide was recorded.
