KATHERINE Carey married Francis Knollys upon whom Henry VI 11 conferred the lordship of Rotherfield Grey in fee and made him one of his gentlemen pensioners. He was in favour with Elizabeth 1 and was one of the judges to sit in judgement on the unhappy Queen of Scots. He was subsequently made treasurer of the household and installed a Knight of the Garter. There were ten children, Henry one of my ancestors, William, Robert, Richard, Francis, Thomas, Lettice one of my ancestors, Anne, Cecilia and Catherine. Katherine Knollys died at Hampton Court on 15th January 1568 and was buried in Westminster Abbey. Sir Francis Knollys died in 1596.
