IN 1784 a lease was signed in the Marquis of Bute's own
handwriting letting Dalgig to a certain Ivie Campbell. The
lease is still extant in the home of the tenant's great
grandson Mr Ivie Smith, now living in Lancashire. The rent
fixed in 1784 was GBP53 plus public burdens. There were
Campbells in Dalgig until 1869, when it was taken over by Mr
Edward Bruges who was a tenant up to my ... at May 1919. From
